Faced with the opportunity of sustaining and enhancing the rapidly changing environment we live in, the land-based sector is extremely dynamic and diverse.
Driven by constantly changing legislative, technological and consumer demands and an overall requirement for scientific research, there is a strong industry need for well trained, higher-level skilled graduates.
What makes us different
Our strength lies with looking to the future needs of industry. The £1.7 million precision livestock facility, comprising a calf rearing facility and beef grower unit, and a teaching and learning space, the state of the art equipment is being integrated into our degrees. The facility takes a fully digitised approach to sustainable high welfare farming. Students complete research and make animal husbandry and welfare decisions based on real time data.
Complementing our commitment towards a more technological approach, our Digital Skills Academy focuses on equipping students with enhanced skills in line with emerging digital technology industry needs. The facilities include immersive technology such as virtual reality headsets, the use of augmented reality, as well as environmental management applications of lidar scanning.
